PRINCIPLES OF FIRE

INTRODUCTION

This is a 1 day course designed to provide employers and employees with the knowledge and skills required to identify fire hazards and how they can cause fires.

The course will cover the following elements:

· The combustion process
· Fire triangle
· Stages of combustion

· Ignition
· Identifying ignition sources
· Ignition of gases and liquids

· Classification of fire

· Fire growth
· Factors that influence fire growth
· Fire spread
· Fire in a physical enclosure

· Explosion
· Conditions for gas and dust explosions to occur
· Explosion suppression


ASSESSMENT

A test will be set to ensure a level of competence has been achieved.

A Certificate will be awarded to those delegates who reach a satisfactory standard
